PDF Recommendations

PDF files are a fast and convenient way to prepare your files for order submission.  Each design program has a specific way to create a PDF. To ensure quality and reliable PDF documents, we recommend creating a PDF using the following guidelines.

Adobe® InDesign Users

Creating a PDF from Adobe InDesign is very simple.

Open your InDesign document.
Select File>Export.  Never select File>Print. Adobe CS5 users should select File>Adobe PDF Preset>High Quality Print instead of File>Export.
Browse to the desktop for the location that the PDF will be created to.

On the Export Adobe PDF, please select the following from the Adobe PDF Preset drop down menu:
2.0 and CS users:  Print
CS2 and CS3 users:  High Quality Print

Under Pages, select All.

For non-newsprint orders that have bleeds:
Select Marks and Bleeds tab to the left of the dialog box.
Check the Use Document Bleed Settings box. This will obtain the bleed settings from the InDesign document in the created PDF.

Select Export
The PDF will appear on the desktop.

Please open the PDF and review the PDF for comparison to the original InDesign file. Please check for correct page size, embedded fonts and missing images and artwork.
Once PDF is checked and correct, you may submit your order.
